This half day workshop, including question time, will cover how to effectively structure your Music business activities.
Course content includes:
- Factors, including taxation and risk management that need to be considered when determining appropriate ownership structures for music managers and their artists. (e.g. partnerships, companies, sole traders and trusts)
- Overview of common tax deductions available for small to medium sized businesses e.g. Home Office and Motor Vehicle, Entertainment etc
- Dealing with and managing provisional tax
- Standard royalty and mechanical payments from labels to artists
o What can/can’t be recouped?
o What do/don’t you pay mechanicals on
o What is the place of promo copies of CDs – and what payments are due to artists regarding these? - Agreements for multiple shareholders/partnerships which provide a mechanism for setting boundaries for peoples actions, disagreements and entitlements
- Brief overview of taxation implications when doing business offshore
